Sie stehen damit in Konkurrenz zu <a href="Java_Virtual_Machine" title="Java Virtual Machine">Java Virtual Machines</a> wie <a href="Interpreter" title="Interpreter">Interpretern</a> und <a href="Just-in-time-Compilierung" class="mw-redirect" title="Just-in-time-Compilierung">Just-in-time</a>-<a href="Compiler" title="Compiler">Compilern</a>.
</p><p>Die meisten Java-Prozessoren existieren als <a href="IP-Core" title="IP-Core">IP-Cores</a> und werden in <a href="Field_Programmable_Gate_Array" title="Field Programmable Gate Array">FPGAs</a> oder <a href="Anwendungsspezifische_integrierte_Schaltung" title="Anwendungsspezifische integrierte Schaltung">ASICs</a> eingesetzt.
</p><p>Beispiele von Java-Prozessoren sind:
